mottoed

I spotted this map recently and thought it was genius. Each state is filled with the text of its motto. I didn't blog about it then, I don't know why, but then Strange Maps posted it, not merely with a list of each state's motto (which would have been awesome enough), but with the history of how the motto came to be. Genius.

I was surprised and a little ashamed to find that I did not know my state's motto. Although why they chose to quote an assassin is a bit beyond me. Unsurprisingly, it was later adopted by, uh, more assassins. And a terrorist. We really just set ourselves up for this kind of stuff.
