blue barnhouse

I was adding some new cards to stock in the shop today and I came across some fantastic letterpress cards, all from Blue Barnhouse in Asheville, NC. The images above and below are both cards we carry, and a perusal of their website and store revealed more cards, some gorgeous wedding invitations, posters, and one kickass card made for Dave Chappelle himself. I just love the use of vintage images and adore their choice of fonts.

postal

Do you ever have a day that feels like everything around you is working in concert? This weekend has been like that, a little bit. I love to write letters and postcards, as much if not more so than I love to receive them. I had spotted stationery based on old British telegram cards at some point in my internet wanderings, and decided yesterday to search it out. I found it, among the charmingly sarcastic wares sold by 16 Sparrows, which is where I also found the Letter Writers Alliance.
The LWA has its own stationery, blog, and password-protected members area. After placing an order for stationery and my very own membership card, I went perusing through the blog, which is when I discovered Postcrossing. A postcard sending project? Signed up for that one, too! And then, as if the universe had not informed me with sufficient clarity that I should be writing a letter right now, go on, get to it, Marjorie M. Liu, one of my favourite authors, blogged a photo-filled post about her trip to the Shanghai Postal Museum.

gatsby

I'm currently reading The Great Gatsby for a class--for the first time, can you believe it?? I have to write a semi-long paper about it, so my head's been full of Gatsby for a few days and these save-the-dates seemed to have waltzed (Charlstoned?) right out of my thoughts. Truly beautiful cards!

calling all gumshoes

Hi, there--mystery junkie here. Yes, it is I, who cherish all things hidden, read Nancy Drew books (and not in an ironic fashion--heck, I've played each and every game), and treasure British mystery shows above all. Now, thanks to Jorden Ferney's post on the Cookie Nesting blog, every single birthday party I have from now unto eternity will be detective themed. Every. Single. One. Because, my God, the adorableness. These invitations are ridiculously simple, totally cute, and nail the theme on the head without going over-the-top. Which, as you may know, basically sums up Ms. Ferney's modus operandi.
