kay

As you might recall, I have a deep and abiding love of Gilded Age illustrations, and artist Kay Nielsen is a particular favourite. I was thrilled to find a copy of East of the Sun and West of the Moon with his 1914 illustrations in it, but saddened about its price (i.e., not cheap), knowing that so few were seeing these gorgeous pictures. So, you can probably imagine my ecstatic reaction when I discovered a newly published copy of the book, complete with Nielsen illustrations. Then again, perhaps you can't. (I was pretty ecstatic.) I love that his gorgeous illustrations are getting the recognition they deserve (major points to Calla Editions), in addition to being available to just about anyone in the US. Including you!
