life in a birdhouse

AT Chicago has the story of a bird house (no joke) turned people house.

This small structure called a pigeonnier was built on the grounds of a Louisiana estate around 1750. Its original function was to house pigeons which, at that time, were considered haute cuisine.

It lacks a kitchen and bathroom (which is something of a significant deficit, I guess), but just look at it!
